The mayor spoke firmly: No mercy for those who harm Alanya’s identity!

Following the circulation of a video on social media showing a taxi driver in Alanya negotiating a fare without turning on the taximeter, municipal enforcement teams took swift action. The driver was quickly identified, an official report was filed, and an administrative fine was issued.
Alanya Municipality continues its efforts based on transparency and trust in transportation, accommodation, and public services. In cooperation with the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Alanya Municipality enforcement teams, an investigation was launched after the video showing the taxi driver bargaining without using the taximeter appeared online. The driver was identified and penalized accordingly. Additionally, the taxi stand received a warning: any repetition or negative behavior may result in permanent closure and license revocation.

Mayor of Alanya, Osman Tarık Özçelik, who regularly visits taxi stands and engages with drivers since taking office, emphasized the importance of professional appearance and proper customer interaction. “We do not tolerate any actions that harm Alanya’s identity or undermine the trust of citizens and visitors. Standing against such unethical behavior is our responsibility. Our enforcement teams acted promptly and issued the necessary penalty. We will never allow our city's tourism image to be tarnished,” he said.
