In Yalova, M.T., who introduced himself as an MIT officer and scammed 10 million lira from 82-year-old V.A. over the phone, was caught when he asked for more money. On May 4th, V.A. handed over 10 million lira in cash to the suspect, who claimed to be an MIT officer over the phone. After telling his relatives about the incident, V.A. realized he had been scammed and filed a complaint at the district gendarmerie command.
CAUGHT IN ISTANBUL
While the teams were working on the fraud case, the suspect called V.A. again on May 14th and asked for another 10 million lira. M.T., who was speaking by phone, directed B.K. to take the cash. When B.K. went to the meeting place, he was arrested by the team who had set up precautions. Based on B.K.'s statement, M.T., who had posed as an MIT employee and asked for the money, was caught in Istanbul and brought to Yalova.
ARRESTED
After his procedures at the police station, the suspects were brought to court. M.T. was arrested, while B.K. was released under judicial control.
