Criticism of the new market project from CHP Alanya District Presidency

CHP Alanya District Presidency Criticizes the New Market Project
The CHP Alanya District Presidency has made serious criticisms regarding the new market project in Alanya. It was emphasized that the new market project falls short in several important aspects. The main criticisms highlighted in the statement made by the presidency are as follows:
Architectural Design and Standard Needs: It was stated that the architectural design of the new market project is not suitable for the daily operations of market vendors. The project was described as failing to meet the service needs of the vendors and being designed like an "architectural fantasy."
Lack of Loading and Unloading Areas: In the project, it was mentioned that even in the largest shops, vehicles would block neighboring shops when loading or unloading, thus ignoring logistical needs.
Small Shop Sizes: It was pointed out that the shop areas in the new market project are quite small, with insufficient space for storage and other essential areas. For example, the largest shop has a total usage area of 156 m², while the shops in the current market have 168 m².
Lack of Storage: It was emphasized that important facilities such as ripening rooms and cold storage, necessary for products like tropical fruits, are missing. The presence of only one storage area in the new project was seen as a significant shortcoming compared to the current market.
Lack of Loading Ramps: It was stated that loading ramps, which are of great importance for the daily operations of market vendors, are not placed in front or behind the shops in the new project.
Transportation Costs and Traffic Load: It was stated that the new market is being built in the western part of Alanya, in the Türkler area, which will bring additional transportation costs for producers coming from Alanya and eastern neighborhoods, who make up a significant portion of the turnover of Alanya Central Market. Moreover, it was pointed out that this would further increase Alanya’s transit traffic load.
The CHP Alanya District Presidency pointed out that the new market project, instead of meeting the needs of the market vendors and producers, would create more problems. In this context, a call was made for a more comprehensive and functional project to be prepared by the authorities.
